About the Wine – Cultus Red
Cultus Red is the kind of bottle that changes your plans. When I visited Cultus in September, I went there fully intending to leave with a white and a pét-nat. But standing in Matej’s garden, tasting wines off a barrel with five bottles lined up between us, this red completely stole the show. It’s a deep, expressive Merlot with dark cherry, plum, and subtle spice, smooth yet structured, and full of energy. Naturally fermented, patiently aged, and bottled with minimal intervention, it’s a wine that feels alive and grounded, and impossible to ignore once you’ve tasted it.

About the Winemakers – Cultus Winery
Cultus is a small, family-run winery in Slovenia’s Vipava Valley, where Matej makes wine the way he believes it should be made: by paying attention and staying out of the way. During the tasting, he spoke less about rules and more about intuition, land, and letting each vintage find its own balance. Everything is done by hand, with native yeasts and minimal manipulation, resulting in wines that feel honest, personal, and deeply tied to place. It’s exactly the kind of winemaking that reminds you why natural wine matters.

Food Pairing
Cultus Red loves real food and relaxed tables. Pair it with grilled or roasted meats, slow-cooked stews, mushroom dishes, or rich pasta sauces. It’s also great with aged cheeses and long conversations that stretch well into the evening. And if you’re still curious about that pét-nat, you’ll find it waiting for you in the six-bottle box.

How does it work?

Images are for illustration purposes only. The actual wines in each box may vary.

A box with the amount of bottles of your choosing delivered every month on the first week. The theme changes monthly. One month you get wines from Hungary, some months all oranges, some months... who knows!

Pause or change your subscription at any time. Going on holiday and want to skip a month? No problem. Got excited after trying out a 1-bottle box and want to go for the 3-bottle box next? No problem!

  • No shortcuts

Growers who refuse pesticides and chemical additives accept that they’ll lose a significant part of their harvest to weather, disease, and unpredictable nature, but they do it to keep their wines pure, alive, and honest.

  • Risk and loss

Nature swings between plenty and scarcity; frost, hail, heat and ferments can erase volumes, fewer bottles must carry the farm’s costs, with ageing measures adding expense to keep the wine clean and true over time.

  • Integrity and handwork

Hands replace chemicals: they weed, manage canopies, pick, and sort by hand; presses and gravity moves protect texture, while cleanliness and patient ageing deliver purity without shortcuts, increasing labor but preserving integrity in every bottle.
